FFXI UI 0.13 [Dec. 2nd, 2007|02:29 pm]
Previous Entry Add to Memories Share Next Entry
I updated my UI to work with the November 28th patch. All language UI dats are updated.

I fixed a few missing status icons from 0.12 and created icons for what I think are the light and dark arts status icons. I just colour-swapped the haste icon to make white and black versions. It's not my best work but hopefully it at least works. Note all dats are mostly untested. Let me know if there are problems.

You can download the DATs from filefront.com, or savefile.com.

To install the files, make sure you are fully logged out of FFXI and PlayOnline, then simply unzip the zip file to your PlayOnline\SquareEnix\Final Fantasy XI directory. Read the included readme file for instructions on how to install any of the new window tiles.

Note that I have included versions of the icon dat file that use SE's utsusemi icon and the different utsusemi icon. The default status icon dat file uses a different icon for the copy image status effect. If you prefer to use SE's icon, rename ROM\119\57-SE-utsusemi.DAT to ROM\119\57.DAT for the NA client, ROM\0\12-SE-utsusemi.DAT to ROM\0\12.DAT for the JP client, ROM\176\107-SE-utsusemi.DAT to ROM\176\107.DAT for the German client, or ROM\178\46-SE-utsusemi.DAT to ROM\178\46.DAT for the French client.

If you use the JP or EU client and prefer English language descriptions for the status icons then copy ROM\119\57.DAT to ROM\0\12.DAT for the JP client, ROM\119\57.DAT to ROM\176\107.DAT for the German client, or ROM\119\57.DAT to ROM\178\46.DAT for the French client.

DO NOT INSTALL WHILE LOGGED INTO FFXI or POL or the game may crash or behave strangely.

Read the included readme file for instructions on installing the window tiles.

If you want to see what the UI looks like, see this older lj entry for a screenshot: FFXI UI 0.10 (September 23, 2006)

I also updated my zip file containing the original versions of these dats from the November 28th patch. If you accidentally delete the original dat files and you want to have them back, you can get them from Filefront here: ffxi-ui-original-nov28-2007.zip.

September 2008 Patch.

Hey! First thanks for your work It's awesome what you doing ^.~ Unfortunaly it looks like the new SE's update mess the ffxi-ui around causing ingame crash. The new Level Sync icon dosnt show correctly on the screen and when targeting someone with Lvl sync on, the game crash. We're many in this case.
I just uninstalled the ffxi-ui1.13 and the game works but now I'm missing the ffxi-ui ; ;

Yeah the same thing happened to me. I ended up having to reinstall everything because I didn't backup my files. Still, it was awesome while it lasted.

How do you uninstall the UI and just restore it to FFXI UI? I've been experiencing the same issue. When i walk around, I see a group of 6 with the lfp icon but not the blue text next to it so i'm like hey thats weird, and when I target them, "ffxi main" crash so i figured the UI was the problem but idk how to revert back to regular icons.

Go to ffxidats.com. Where you can find all the .dats you are looking for.

What appears to be a quick & ugly solution:

I'm guessing the problem is caused by the game now looking into one of those DATs for the level sync icon and not finding it. So, the simplest way to avoid this but keep everything else is to just not install them. This is what has worked for me.

DON'T INSTALL THE FOLLOWING FILES:

ROM/0/12.DAT
ROM/O/12-se-utsusemi.DAT [would be renamed to 12.DAT if used]
ROM/51/57.DAT
ROM/51/57-se-utsusemi.DAT
ROM/176/107.DAT
ROM/176/107-se-utsusemi.DAT
ROM/178/46.DAT
ROM/178/46-se-utsusemi.DAT

The files are essentially the same for each folder, they just vary by language.

If i knew more about .DAT editing, i would try and insert the new icon into the brandson ROM files. I may give it a shot. This appears to work OK and i have not had any crashes, and it keeps everything intact except for the brandson status icons.

Thank you for this quick fix.
I want to try this. However, I don't seem to have folder #51.
In my file, I have folder 0, 91, 119, 176, and 178.
I did what you said in folder 0, 176, and 178 - but I'm not too sure if I should do the same in my other folders or not.

Ha! Not sure where i got 51 either. It should be 119. Basically, anywhere there are those 2 sets of DATs (##.DAT & ##-se-utsusemi.DAT). You are correct.

NVM, NOT WORKING, STILL.

I'll try and figure out how to do it, but likely we will have to wait until the author updates it, if he still wants too.

OK fixed this time...i hope!

After doing my own little crash course in FFXI .DATs, here is what i have come up with:

http://files.filefront.com/brandsonuiseptvufixedrar/;11820509;/fileinfo.html

Give it a shot. It works for the english client only. It contains only the backgrounds (optional), and the fonts / menus / gauges / butttons of the latest brandson UI. Works for me so far, no crashing w/ level sync.

Appears to be working fine, I have several people using it with no crashes or other problems.

Updated.

Added Japanese, French & German localizations. I have not been able to test these as I use the English client, so any input from those users would be appreciated.
